I've been remiss in alerting UK artists (and myself!) to the new licensing opportunity at the 2007 Spring Fair at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. I went last year and wasn't planning to go this year and consequently didn't read the literature very thoroughly.........
Spring Fair Birmingham is by far the UK’s largest retail event, hosting 4,000 exhibitors and over 78,000 British and international retailers, agents and marketers each year. (see website)
Responses by exhibitors to last year's Autumn Fair suggested a rethink was required and this year's Spring Fair activities have been rebranded and regrouped into four main core sectors Giving, Living, Greetings and Jewellery. "Living" contains "Gallery" in Hall 12 - which is the UK's largest art and framing show (albeit this is wholly aimed at retailers rather than individual purchasers.)
With over 200 exhibitors, the UK's biggest art & framing event attracts thousands of retail galleries and framers every year. Plus, it's new location within Living means access to more home and gift buyers sourcing decorative and finished art. Visit Gallery for...

If you sell giclee prints, associating yourself with one of the exhibitors at the Spring Fair can mean extra sales of your prints - as it has done in previous years for my friend Gayle Mason. Licence it - is a brand new, focused area within Hall 3 for a large concentrated selection of design, artwork and character licensing companies. This Hall includes smaller sized stands aimed at the cost-conscious designer or single character licensor.
More than 9,500 visitors had a stated interest in artwork design and character licenses at the 2006 event.
Another change for 2007 is that the website has been developed so that information about who is exhibiting and what's on offer is available all year. See Springfair.com Search Source 365. You can find the exhibitors listed for both the categories highlighted in this post. The Spring Fair remains open until Thursday. Wear good walking shoes if you plan to go - the show is HUGE! For my American friends, the 2007 Licensing International Expo in New York runs from June 19-21 at the Javits Centre, New York. This is descibed as the premier annual trade event for the licensing industry. Links:
